La dolce vita!

I tripped..

Posted by: shiweiyang on: September 2, 2009

Over the jungle of cables and wires from various electronic devices, landing on all fours, knocking my ribs and grazing both forearms at a go. Good job Shi Wei! Haven’t I already told myself countless of times before how I should clear away the clutter? Haven’t I already tripped over the wires again and again but narrowly escaped falling? Geez Louise, just too typical of me!

Stumbled across these great tracks on iTunes ♥

Not to be confused with the movie, this is an Aussie band that sound a bit like Suede and Depeche Mode. Very 80′s.The album cover also looks like a Walt Disney film -_- Doesn’t it remind you of erm.. Bedtime Stories?

Favourite tracks :

Walking on a Dream (their biggest hit)

We Are the People

Without You

Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, by Phoenix. I think it’s genius like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart!

Their biggest tracks are:

1901 and Lisztomania but I think the rest like Fences, Girlfriend and Lasso are awesome too!

And also Sia

Her song Breathe Me is probably old news now but this new album has got a lot of great stuff like The Girl You Lost to Cocaine, Soon We’ll Be Found etc. I also think this is a pretty unflattering album cover. I don’t get how people can choose bad album covers.

Dash & Will

Their real names are Charlotte and Josie. Dash and Will are what they would call themselves if they were boys. Cool. Another Aussie act. I think they are alright. One thing about the Aussies is that they REALLY love and support their local acts. It’s good I suppose for the local music industry but yeah, don’t take their word too seriously when they say stuff like ‘best thing ever’, ‘genius’ etc. They think The Veronicas are great. Come on, really?

Anyhow, Dash and Will aren’t half as bad as the Origliasso twins. There are, in fact, tonnes better. And there are heaps of other great Aussie talents, Kate Miller-Heidke being a prime example.

Here’s a cover of  Empire of the Sun’s Walking on a Dream, thanks to Alison’s recommendation. I love them both equally much. Though I tend to get a bit defensive against covers of tracks I really love. I thought David Cook butchered Always Be My Baby intially, but it did grow on me eventually.
